We're not gonna beat around the bush, here--we've noticed the fear in a few peoples' eyes. There's this long-running myth, after all, that "vagina" is a scary or dirty word.
But we're still putting up Vagina Monologues Posters wherever folks'll accept them! To all the locally owned and operated restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, convenience stores, boutiques, and community centers who've already said yes to supporting the arts by hanging a poster, you have the gratitude of the cast, crew, and dozens of people who've already purchased tickets to this award-winning piece of theater.
If you own a business and are cool with hanging a Vagina Monologues poster through St. Patrick's Day, we hope you'll reach out and let us know! We have a few posters left and we've been careful about who we're asking on this one, so if we missed you as we went around town yesterday, sorry!
Like we said, people are ALREADY getting their Vagina Monologues tickets.
Why? Because it's a dang-good play, that's why! And, as playwright Eve Ensler put it: "Women secretly love to talk about their vaginas."
Judging by the play's history, that adage certainly feels true--The Vagina Monologues has been performed since 1996, been translated into more than 30 languages, and has become a staple at fundraisers to end violence against women.
Both funny and unflinching, raw and cathartic, the Vagina Monologues examines the best and worst aspects of female experience--and everything in between!
Follow this link or Click "Get Tickets" in the menu above to learn more and secure your spot at the show! The Vagina Monologues opens Friday, March 8 and will run for two weekends. Any unsold tickets will be available at the door on the days of performance.
Can't Wait for Vagina Monologues? Join us for a comedy night March 1!
Join us for a stand-up comedy free-for-all at Oxenfrē Public House on Friday, March 1 from 8:00 - 10:00 PM!
This event is 21+. No cover charge, but tipping your comics and bartenders is highly encouraged!
Headliner: Evan Vest
Featuring: Chloé Rosenthal & Brandy Lara
With additional short sets by more than a half-dozen up-and-coming comics from Curry and Del Norte Counties!
And Why Should I Care About These Comics?
Because they're locals and they're good at what they do, that's why! Based out of the Savage Henry Comedy Club in Eureka, CA, headliner Evan Vest grew up in Curry and Del Norte Counties, and over the course of his decade in comedy has toured with the pros up and down the West Coast.
Chloé Rosenthal, also raised in Brookings, is an actor and regularly performs stand-up comedy in the LA area--and will also be appearing in our production of The Vagina Monologues!
Brandy Lara, originally from Los Angeles, has recently taken Humboldt's local comedy scene by storm and is a growing talent in the area. Lara and Vest will be going on tour in Oregon's major cities later this Spring.
Thanks as always for your support, Pennies. See you at the show(s)!
